Gotham

We just finished the whole show of Gotham and I really liked it!

The show is about the rise of villains that Batman will face someday. The whole show has a darker tone since pretty much everyone in the show (including the good guys) becomes bad at some point but eventually comes to the good side again.

The main character is James Gordon. At the beginning of the show, he is basically the only straight cop in the GCPD. He fights all odds throughout the whole show to keep justice in this corrupt city.
Throughout the show, the relationships are not necessarily front and center like they are in so many shows which is kinda nice. But his relationship in the first two seasons was very sweet! His girlfriend- Lee Tompkins- is super sweet and steady. They do some interesting things with her later in the show (no spoilers) but she still stays pretty strong to her convictions.
Also, fun fact, these actors were married in real life so that made them so much more fun to watch.
Then there's Bruce Wayne. In the first season, he doesn't have a very big role but as the show goes on he becomes one of the team and gets pretty awesome! He has a similar personality to Jim, a "straight arrow", always following the rules and keeping Gotham safe.

Then there's his girl, Selina Kyle. The cool thing about Selina is that she's not just there as a love interest. Throughout the show, Bruce and Selina part ways but they keep going with their characters not making them need a romance.
And I love how Selina's complete opposite of Bruce, Bruce is the follow the rules to the end and Selina's more like a "rules were meant to be broken" type.

They're so cute throughout the show from when they were basically babies to when they fight crime together!

I saw a meme that describes Penguin perfectly saying "Penguin- if James Moriarty and Loki had a son."  He is a little creepy but also hilarious! His ultimate goal is to rule Gotham and every season he somehow climbs to the top but within a few episodes, he loses all control. He's not really a villain but more of an anti-hero. He's fought alongside Jim in many battles but also fought some against him.

And there's Ed Nigma- The Riddler. He's super smart nerdy type, starting as a good guy but eventually goes to the dark side. Again, like Penguin, he's more of an anti-hero.

And their relationship is hilarious! It starts with Penguin being more of a mentor, to them being partners, to them being enemies, and then partners again. Throughout the whole show, you can just look to them to give the comic relief.

And the last anti-hero is Barbara Kean. She, like Riddler, starts as a good guy, then goes really bad, then kinda lands in the middle. I love her arch throughout the show! She, like everyone in Gotham, wants control and power and somehow always manages to get it. She ends up being partners with Selina and she's kinda like a big sister. She's super spicy and just a little crazy.
